Every summer we're reminded of the atomic bomb disaster that happened
over half a century ago. For the past few months, I've been engaged in an internet
dispute wether or not we Japanese should complain against Americans about
the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Though I'm aware
of the brutality of the neuclear weapon, I insist that we are not in the position
to condemn Americans since it was Japan to start the war. If American get criticized,
it should be done by the people other than Japanese. This is certainly a sad fact.
Of course many people in this country do not agree with my opinion.
Stephen Okazaki's film "HiroshimaNagasaki" is much acclaimed in Japan recently but I was
not very happy with the film because Okazaki so beautifully took a balance not to undermine
American standpoint, though on theory, I should have supported his point of view
