（友人の玲子が能の石橋を聴きながらきながら永逝したのことにつき詠む。
我が友よ、君の魂は夫が用意した大好きだった石橋の大音声を
聴きながら天国に昇っていった。今や天と地に隔てられてしまったが
どうか私を忘れないでください。）

Reiko was the wife of one of my friends. She was suffering from
cancer and one day her husband told me she would'nt live more
than three months. But she endured as long as a  year and half
after that. At dawn as she was leaving this world he put an earphone
to her ear so that she could listen to Shakkyo, a famous Noh music
she had loved and made the volume highest. He felt she really
liked it.

She was a thin middle sized woman with large eyes and firm thin
lips. A few months before her death, she joined my party to enjoy
fireworks of Edo River from my terrace. She was so thin her eyes
seemed to occupy almost one third of her face. She said it was
cold though it was in the middle of summer. I gave her my jumper
but it was so big for her and covered her all over. Later her
husband told me what she said. " I have never enjyoed fireworks
more than the last one in my life "
She did not talk much but her husband told me that she was quite
fussy about choosing her friends and that I was OK for her.
I was pleased that she at least accepted me as one of her friends.
